READ's High school courses are accredited and revised in line with the National Curriculum Statement and provides skills that teachers need to prepare the secondary school learners for life beyond the classroom.
READ is involved at High school level because we understand that high school demands more sophisticated and analytical language skills of learners. They are required to analyse and evaluate increasingly complex and specialized texts, formulate and express opinions, and apply information skills to locate, access, interpret and transfer information.
READ's high school teacher training courses cover various topics related to language and literacy in the national curriculum. The courses enable Senior Phase teachers to prepare Grade 12's for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) as well as facilitate their participation in the "real world" after matriculating.
