RALLY TO READ
PLEASE NOTE: After 18 years of successful Rallies, the program is going through a “re-invention”. We will be continuing with the three Rallies that are still in their 3-year cycle (Western Cape, Free State and Eastern Cape) and are working on new ideas for the other provinces which are currently completing their cycle. The entire Rally to Read format is being revisited and READ will be sure to update you as soon as various options and fresh initiatives have been discussed. We are in the process of planning exciting changes!
Bookings for the above three Rallies are open on the Rally to Read website

The Rally to Read programme is a READ flagship project run with donations form a multitude of South African individuals and companies. Rallies takes place in schools across five provinces in South Africa, over three years.
Schools are provided with resources and books in an initial Rally weekend, normally in April or May. The schools’ resources comprise toys, books and games, and include a ‘box library’ for each classroom. School teachers are tutored on literacy and language methodologies by ten dedicated READ trainers. Box libraries are constructed for classrooms to protect the books and are replenished with new resources each new Rally year. READ trainers monitor and mentor teachers and are, in turn, monitored and mentored by senior READ trainers, who quality assure the project.
All READ trainers’ work is done in conjunction with the Department of Education’s subject advisers and school district offices.
